Value Chain and Enterprise Development

SRSP is one of the leading organizations committed to develop small scale enterprises and selected value chains for improving social and economic development of poor families.

The Enterprise Section of SRSP follows a variety of strategies to promote small enterprises and economic growth. Most prominent of these is the demand driven value chain approach. This approach identifies constraints and opportunities along a value chain for different products and addresses them through capacity building, training, linkages, networking etc. A three years project with the CIDA funded MEDA project for seedlings value chain in Haripur has been a good learning ground for this approach. This has been replicated for Milk Production, Mushrooms, Honey Production, local cloth khaddar production in different regions and projects within SRSP. In BKPAP projects and Early Recovery Projects enterpreneurs have been identified and provided with grants and trainings to initiate projects with high success rates. The Vocational Training Programmes of SRSP plays an important part in different enterprise trainings and offers training according to local needs.

Similarly community investment funds and the micro finance programme make an important contribution to enterprise development by providing access to capital to the enterpreneurs. SRSP also works with the agri business fund to build enterprise groups and train them. The enterprise interventions of SRSP make an extra effort to be inclusive for marginalised groups like women
